A Few Seconds of History

With the new millennium witnessed a resurgence in independent watchmaking, such as Roger Dubuis and Richard Mille. These companies adopted a bold approach to watchmaking, incorporating novel materials like titanium and carbon. This highly ambitious attitude to innovation was also embraced by well-established brands, such as Patek Philippe. Patek produced the third most complicated watch in the world, The Star Calibre pocket watch. This remarkable timepiece, a product of eight years of extensive research, demonstrated the brand’s dedication to extraordinarily high technical levels of experimentation.

As mobile phones became widespread, the importance of the watch’s primary function was lost. However, it maintained its role as a piece of luxury, the timeless, mechanical charm of the watch will never cease to fascinate people. Consequently, style and craftmanship emerged as the foremost reasons for their appeal, transcending their original purpose as mere timekeepers.
