PRE-OWNED ROLEX DATEJUST 16013 WATCHES

Pre-Owned Rolex Datejust 16013 Watches<br/>

Production Years:

The Rolex Datejust 16013 arrived in the late 1970s and remained in production into the late 1980s/early 1990s. It followed earlier two tone Datejust references at a point when Rolex was updating the mechanics of the collection while keeping its established 36mm design.

Its production years cover much of the 1980s, and watches from this period can be found with numerous dial treatments and small detail changes. The 16013 was eventually replaced as Rolex moved the Datejust towards the next generation of movements and construction.

Defining Features

Much of the visual appeal of the 16013 comes from the use of yellow gold. Yellow Rolesor was used in constructing the fluted bezel, winding crown, and center links of the bracelet, which were made using 18ct yellow gold; the stainless steel case and outer bracelet links complete this design feature that characterizes the Datejust of the 1980s.

It comes with a 36mm Oyster case along with an acrylic crystal and the characteristic date window at three o'clock, magnified with a Cyclops lens. There is wide latitude when it comes to the dial color choice. While champagne is most closely associated with this reference, others like silver, black, white, and more have been seen across the years.

With the Calibre 3035, this series of watches saw an important mechanical innovation in being able to set the date independent of the time. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and has an approximate power reserve of 48 hours.

About Rolex Datejust Model Number 16013

The 16013 originates from a junction in the Datejust family where past and future co-exist. It retains the acrylic crystal and old fashioned case proportions that give it the appearance of an old Rolex while at the same time making it easier to operate than previous Datejust references due to the quick set Calibre 3035.

The two tone design is indicative of the time when it was made as well. The combination of yellow gold and steel grew popular in the Datejust family in the 1980s. The 16013 therefore represents the period quite well and has come to be seen as an ideal option for those who want a classic Rolex without having to look for a non quick set Datejust.

About Your Query

Why Choose BQ Watches for a Pre-Owned Rolex Datejust 16013?

Conditions can vary considerably between 16013 watches that have spent several decades in regular use. Gold centre links show wear differently from steel, Jubilee bracelets can loosen with age, and repeated polishing may change the definition of the case and fluted bezel. Dial originality and previous servicing are also worth understanding before purchasing an older two tone Datejust.

BQ Watches can guide you through these points when you buy a pre owned 16013, helping you understand the condition and specification of the individual watch. If you would rather sell a Rolex already in your collection, our team can discuss its current market position with you. We also offer an exchange service for customers moving to another watch, along with a professional valuation when you want to establish the value of a Rolex you already own.
