Rolex launched the Datejust 126333 in 2016 with the Datejust 41 series. Although the case size appears to be 41mm, the Datejust 126333 cannot be regarded as a predecessor of the Datejust II in true sense. Rolex revamped the dimensions of the watch case, rounded the bulkiness of the previous edition and attached the watch to an absolutely new movement.
Those changes established the 126333 as the benchmark for the modern two tone Datejust 41. Today, the reference remains part of Rolex's current catalogue with an expanding range of factory dial combinations.
Defining Features

A combination of Oystersteel and 18ct yellow gold marks the most precious metal for the construction of the fluted bezel, winding crown, and center links of the bracelet. Oystersteel is used for the oyster case and outer links of the bracelet. Such construction has been with the Datejust collection everywhere for many years but has retained the features characteristic of the Oyster casing.
Factory specification is important for the reference since Rolex created the 126333 with a large variety of dial choices available not offering the simplest number of dial versions. For instance, champagne, white, black, silver, slate, bright blue, mother of pearl, Wimbledon, and diamond set dials appeared during its production ensuring the distinction between different watches and the same reference together.
There is a wide range of choices when it comes to the strap. Some watches are delivered with the three link Oyster strap, while some are fitted with the five link Jubilee strap. Both variants are fitted with the Easylink extension which allows for the strap to be lengthened or shortened without the use of tools.
The movement powered by the Caliber 2325 was developed as part of Rolex’s new generation of movements. The Chronergy escapement responsible for improving energy efficiency, the blue Parachrom hairspring making it resistant to shocks as well as to magnetic fields and gives a power reserve of approximately 70 hours while complying with the requirements of the Superlative Chronometer certification.
The 126333 follows the established Datejust design. That is why it features the sapphire crystal with a Cyclops magnifier as well as the Twinlock winding crown and the Oyster casing with the water resistance to 100 meters (330 ft).

The 126333 represents a change in direction rather than a change in size. Rolex had already introduced a 41mm Datejust with the Datejust II, but feedback from collectors and long term owners often centred on its broader proportions. Instead of increasing the dimensions again, Rolex reshaped the watch. Narrower lugs, a revised bezel profile and improved overall balance allowed the 41mm case to retain its wrist presence while restoring much of the visual character associated with earlier Rolex Datejust generations.
The movement was equally significant. Previous 41mm Datejust references relied on the Calibre 3136, whereas the 126333 adopted the Calibre 3235. Beyond the extended power reserve, the new movement introduced a redesigned escapement and further development of Rolex's in house technology, making this reference an important step in the evolution of the Datejust line.
Because production continues today, the 126333 has also become one of the most diverse Datejust references in terms of factory specification. Dial combinations, hour markers and bracelet options have expanded over the years, giving buyers a broad selection while preserving the same technical foundation.
