The Rolex Submariner 116610LV was released in 2010 as a replacement for the previous Submariner 16610LV. While the two models bear Rolex’s famous green colour, the 116610LV was not simply an updated version but rather a new design altogether with new case design, new bezel and bracelet.
Production of the reference ended in 2020 with the release of the 126610LV and the introduction of a 41mm case size for the Submariner line. In its ten years on the market, the 116610LV emerged as one of the most well known modern Rolex sports watches.
Defining Features
This model consists of 904L Oystersteel, a diameter of 40mm in an Oyster case, with screw down Triplock crown and solid screw down case back. Waterproof up to 300 meters (1,000 feet), this model guarantees all professional diving capabilities characteristic for this watch series. The latest version of 116610LV is equipped with the new green Cerachrom bezel replacing the old aluminum one. The new bezel material is very durable and resistant to scratches, corrosion, and UV light exposure, guaranteeing its colour preservation. The rotating bezel is unidirectional, providing correct measuring of elapsed time.
It should be noted that the 116610LV also has a unique feature that separates it from all other Submariners: it has the green Maxi dial. Rolex enlarged the hour markers and hands for better readability and used Chromalight luminescent material to create a longer lasting blue glow. The watch case houses the Calibre 3135 Rolex movement which was used in the manufacture of the Submariner Date collection for quite some time now. The Rolex movement is an automatic manufacture type that comes equipped with a Parachrom hairspring designed to be shock proof and immune to magnetism and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph, with a 48 hour power reserve.
The Oyster bracelet uses the Glidelock extension system by Rolex and can be adjusted precisely without the use of any tools making it easy to wear throughout the day even while diving.
