Rolex Submariner 115060 was released in 2012. Rolex Submariner 114060 is one of the newest models of the Submariner line which did not change the diameter of the case - it remained 40mm but got modified a lot in terms of construction and material from which it is made. This watch became a replacement for the long standing 14060M reference model and stayed in production until 2020, when Rolex released the Submariner 124060 with its diameter enlarged to 41mm.
Its eight year period of production defines a unique place for this model in the history of the Submariner watch family. It keeps the same Calbre 3130 movement and the classical time only dials of the no date Submariner models but introduces the ceramic bezel and Chromalight dials that characterise the modern day Rolex sports watches.
Defining Features
The bezel is definitely one of the most obvious enhancements in comparison with the previous models. Rolex provided its 114060 watch model with the black Cerachrom ceramic bezel intended for scratch, corrosion, and UV light resistance. This bezel has a scale graduated by sixty minutes, which allows the diver to know how much time he spent underwater and has the numerals and graduations coated with platinum using Rolex PVD technology. The bezel rotates only in one direction; thus, the possibility of mistake while reading shorter underwater time is avoided.
Chromalight display is responsible for underwater legibility. Geometric markers and wide hands create easy to read dial layout whereas the luminous material emits a glow of blue colour even in darkness. No date aperture or Cyclops magnifying lens on 114060 make way for keeping the dial layout focused on hours, minutes and seconds.
The 40mm Oyster case is waterproof up to 300 meters (1,000 feet) and features the Rolex Triplock winding crown with a triple waterproofing system. This reference model is made from Oystersteel material that is immune to corrosion and comes with an Oyster bracelet. The Rolex Glidelock system enables one to adjust the bracelet size in small steps without any tools at all.

Even with the official diameter stated at 40mm for the 114060, it entails a whole lot more than that when it comes to the size of the watch. While Rolex introduced the 124060 in 2020 with a rounded case of 41mm and moved the no-date version to the new Calibre 3230, the previous 114060 model is still characterised by its low profile design, comprising 40mm case, Cerachrom bezel and Calibre 3130.
