The Premier League is home to some of the biggest names in world football, and away from the pitch, plenty of its stars have developed a serious interest in watches.
Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet are unsurprisingly dressing-room favourites, but look a little closer and the collections become considerably more interesting. From meteorite-dial GMT-Master IIs and platinum Daytonas to openworked Royal Oaks and Patek Philippe’s divisive Cubitus, there is plenty to keep watch enthusiasts interested.
As the 2026/27 Premier League season gets underway, we take a look at some of the league’s biggest players - and the watches competing for attention on their wrists.
Bukayo Saka's watch collection has become increasingly impressive, with Rolex, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe all associated with the Arsenal star.
One standout is the Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 126719BLRO, crafted from 18ct white gold and fitted with Rolex's red-and-blue Cerachrom bezel. What really separates Saka's example from the more familiar GMT-Master II, however, is its meteorite dial. Each dial displays its own naturally occurring pattern, making it one of the more unusual modern Rolex sports watches.
More recently, Saka has been spotted wearing an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 'Jumbo' Extra-Thin with a smoked burgundy dial, a particularly fitting choice while celebrating Arsenal's Premier League triumph. The titanium AP certainly isn't the obvious footballer's watch - and that makes it all the more interesting.
If there were a Premier League title for watch collecting, Erling Haaland would certainly be challenging for it.
The Manchester City striker is a Breitling ambassador and has even collaborated with the brand on his own limited-edition Chronomat models. The Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 Erling Haaland combines a steel case and platinum bezel with a meteorite dial, while the Chronomat B01 42 version steps things up further with an 18ct red-gold case.
Haaland's collection stretches far beyond Breitling. He has been photographed wearing some exceptional Rolex models, including the yellow-gold Daytona Ref. 116508 with green dial, the gem-set Rainbow Daytona and the extraordinary off-catalogue 'Eye of the Tiger' Daytona.
Then there are the Pateks. A steel Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A and rose-gold Nautilus Ref. 5712R show that Haaland's collection isn't simply about the biggest or most extravagant watch available. There are some genuine modern collector favourites in there too.
There probably couldn't be a more appropriate Rolex for Cole Palmer.
The Chelsea star's 'Cold Palmer' nickname and celebration have become instantly recognisable, so naturally one of his standout watches is the platinum Rolex Cosmograph Daytona with ice-blue dial.
Platinum Rolex watches are traditionally distinguished by their ice-blue dials, and the combination gives Palmer's Daytona a distinctive appearance without resorting to diamonds or elaborate decoration. It's one of Rolex's most prestigious versions of its legendary racing chronograph and seems particularly well matched to its owner.
Palmer has also been seen wearing a white-gold Rolex Day-Date 40, complete with President bracelet, fluted bezel and diamond-set dial. If the Daytona is the sports watch in his collection, the Day-Date provides the more traditional option when the occasion calls for something smarter.
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk may have one of the most interesting watch collections in the Premier League - particularly if you're an Audemars Piguet fan. His connection with the manufacturer goes back several years. Van Dijk has previously spoken about visiting Audemars Piguet's museum and even owns a special Royal Oak Offshore created for Liverpool's title-winning squad, personalised with his number.
His AP collection goes considerably deeper than that, including various Royal Oak references and highly complicated pieces. At the 2025 PFA Awards, for example, he wore the spectacular Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Openworked Ref. 26735ST, combining the familiar Royal Oak design with an openworked movement and flying tourbillon.
Even more interestingly, Van Dijk appeared at Wimbledon in 2026 wearing a yellow-gold Audemars Piguet Bamboo. It's a far less obvious choice than another Royal Oak and suggests his interest extends beyond simply owning the manufacturer's best-known models.
Patek Philippe, Rolex and Richard Mille have also appeared on his wrist, making Van Dijk a strong contender for one of football's most varied collections.
Morgan Rogers has taken a slightly different route. The Aston Villa star was spotted at the PFA Awards wearing the Patek Philippe Cubitus Ref. 7128/1R, a rose-gold version of one of the newest and most talked-about designs in Patek Philippe's collection.
The Cubitus caused plenty of debate when the collection first arrived, largely because its angular case marked such a departure from Patek Philippe's familiar Nautilus and Aquanaut designs. Rogers choosing the full rose-gold version certainly isn't the quiet option, but that's precisely what makes it interesting.
While many footballers gravitate towards established favourites, Rogers has gone for something from a much newer chapter in Patek Philippe's history.
There's an obvious pattern when you look across Premier League dressing rooms.
Rolex remains everywhere. The Daytona in particular seems to be football's go-to sports watch, while the GMT-Master II and Day-Date are never far behind.
Patek Philippe's Nautilus and Aquanaut continue to feature heavily too, although the appearance of the newer Cubitus on Morgan Rogers' wrist shows that players aren't necessarily sticking exclusively to established favourites.
And then there's Audemars Piguet. The Royal Oak has long been popular among footballers, but collectors such as Virgil van Dijk and Bukayo Saka demonstrate just how varied the collection can become once you move beyond the standard steel references.
What is perhaps most interesting is how individual the collections are becoming. The days when every footballer simply seemed to wear the same Rolex are long gone. Haaland has meteorite-dial Breitlings and off-catalogue Daytonas, Saka has a burgundy Royal Oak, Van Dijk is exploring lesser-seen AP references, while Rogers has embraced one of Patek Philippe's newest designs.
The Premier League might ultimately be decided by points on the table, but when it comes to watches, choosing a winner is considerably harder.
