Model Reference
The TAG Heuer Monaco WW2110.FC6177 belongs to the Monaco range of the mid 2000s, with watches from this reference documented from around 2005 onwards. It came at a time when TAG Heuer was exploring what else could be done with Monaco beyond recreating the famous racing chronograph.
The WW2110 took a noticeably different route. TAG Heuer reduced the case to approximately 37mm and left out the chronograph altogether. That decision changed more than the functions. Without chronograph pushers on the side or several timing registers across the dial, this Monaco became a simpler watch for everyday timekeeping.
It is an interesting part of the Monaco catalogue for precisely that reason. Someone could have the square case that defines the collection without choosing one of the larger and more complicated chronograph references. The WW2110.FC6177 is now discontinued and is found primarily on the pre owned market.
Placed next to an average Monaco chronograph, the WW2110 makes a distintive impression. The black dial looks much wider, and the compact size of the case reduces the impact of the square shape on the wrist. In addition, there are no chronograph pushers; therefore, the flanks of the case look notably sleeker. Nevertheless, TAG Heuer has managed to break away from convention in regard to the dial. Thus, the seconds indicator, rather than the usual center seconds hand, appears in the form of a subdial placed at 6 o'clock, whereas the date is provided by a separate window at 3 o'clock.
In terms of appearance, the stainless steel case combines polished and brushed surfaces, which is a feature worth paying attention to in a used watch since both elements age differently. The dial is covered with sapphire crystal, while another part made of sapphire is used to display the mechanical movment. Orginally, the FC6177 model was designed to be worn on a black leather strap. Leather goes well with this particular model due to its compact proportions, since a steel bracelet adds too much visual weight to a square shaped case.
The Monaco gained a reputation as a chronograph watch, and so creating one without a chronograph may appear as a peculiar choice at first glance. In reality, this is a testament to the strength of the initial case design. Even stripped of the stopwatches and pushers, it is unlikely to mistake the WW2110 for anything other than a TAG Heuer line. The WW2110 makes the use of the watch different from its predecessor. The chronograph provides extra functionality but few people actually use it. The WW2110 leaves only the most important data: hours, minutes, seconds, and date. A small seconds counter creates the mechanics on the dial without transforming the watch into a chronograph again.
A Calibre 6 automatic mechanism is central to this concept. Instead of driving a central seconds hand, it creates a separate running seconds indicator at the bottom of the dial. The movement vibrates at a speed of 28,800 vibrations per hour, which corresponds to about 42 hours of power reserve according to specifications. TAG Heuer also chose to show the movement through the back. It is a small detail, but an appropriate one for this reference because the mechanical movement is part of what separates the WW2110 from a simpler quartz interpretation of the Monaco.

A WW2110.FC6177 available today may be around two decades old, so its history matters just as much as the model specification. One watch may have spent most of its life carefully stored, while another may have been worn several times a week. That difference can be visible around the square case, particularly at its corners and across the polished surfaces. The leather strap deserves separate consideration. Straps are consumable parts and may have been replaced during the life of the watch. That does not automatically present a problem, but it is useful to know whether the strap and clasp currently fitted correspond with the original configuration.
These are the details BQ Watches can discuss with you when you are considering whether to buy a WW2110.FC6177. Instead of treating every watch carrying the same reference as identical, its present condition and accompanying items can be considered individually.
The same approach is useful for an existing owner. You may simply want to know where your Monaco currently stands through a valuation, particularly if you have owned it for many years. If your collection has moved in another direction, BQ Watches can discuss an exchange based on the watch you have. Owners who have decided to sell can also have the piece assessed with its condition, specification and accompanying items taken into account.
