The TAG Heuer Carrera Lady WV2212.BA0798 was already in circulation by the early 2010s, with dated watches appearing from around 2010 onwards. It was part of a period when TAG Heuer offered the Carrera in smaller sizes specifically for women without limiting the range to quartz movements. This reference used the automatic Calibre 5 inside a 36mm case, then moved away from the sporting appearance of many Carrera models by adding a mother of pearl dial and diamonds. The WV2212.BA0798 is now discontinued and is mainly found through the pre owned market.
Defining Features
Mother of pearl never looks completely flat or uniform, and that is particularly noticeable on the WV2212.BA0798. The white dial can pick up different tones as the light changes, so two photographs of the same watch may not show exactly the same colours. TAG Heuer added diamond hour details to the dial and continued the diamond setting around the fixed steel bezel. The diamonds therefore form part of the whole face of the watch rather than appearing as a single decorative detail.
At 36mm, the polished stainless steel case is larger than many traditional ladies' watches from the same era. It gives the mother of pearl dial enough room to remain clear despite the diamond details. Sapphire crystal protects the front, while the date is positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock rather than at the more usual 3 o'clock position. The BA0798 version continues the polished steel appearance onto the bracelet, which closes with a folding clasp.

The WV2212.BA0798 is an interesting Carrera because its appearance does not immediately tell you what is inside. From the outside, the mother of pearl, polished steel and diamonds could suggest a watch designed mainly around jewellery. TAG Heuer instead fitted it with the Calibre 5 Automatic, giving it the same basic mechanical approach found in a number of larger Carrera watches.
The movement winds as the watch is worn and runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour. Specifications for this version of the Calibre 5 commonly give 26 jewels and around 38 hours of power reserve. Its job here is straightforward: hours, minutes, central seconds and the date. There is no chronograph filling the dial with extra counters, which leaves more room for the mother of pearl and diamond setting.
That combination is what makes this reference different from many other women's Carrera watches. TAG Heuer did not simply reduce the case size of a men's racing chronograph, nor did it rely on diamonds alone. The WV2212.BA0798 was made as a smaller automatic Carrera with its own dial, proportions and finishing.
