Most of the watch is covered in black colour; however, TAG Heuer did not give every surface the same treatment. The titanium case that measures 43mm in diameter has a sand blasted finish under the black PVD layer, eliminating the shine one can get from polished steel. The dial is black as well with an opaline finish, and applied markers are used for easier readability; other elements on the dial are coloured in lighter shades making the hands, hour indicators and chronograph displays visible.
The use of titanium affects the feel of the watch, as despite its measurements, which are 43mm in diameter and 16.24mm in thickness, titanium makes the case much lighter than a stainless steel case. The crown is made of steel with a black PVD layer, and sapphire crystal is used at both sides of the watch. Water resistant to 100m.
The brown leather strap stops the design from becoming completely black. Its deliberately aged finish suits the beige toned details used around the dial and gives the watch a less formal appearance than a polished leather strap would. TAG Heuer fitted it with a sand blasted folding clasp, keeping the clasp finish in line with the case rather than introducing a bright polished surface.

The chronograph records quarter seconds, 30 minutes and periods of up to 12 hours, while the movement also handles the normal time and date functions. The sapphire back allows the movement to be viewed from behind, something that is hidden on some other Calibre 16 Carrera references.
The CV2A84.FC6394 therefore comes from an interesting point in the Carrera's history. It was not trying to look like an early 1960s racing chronograph, nor was it one of the later skeletonised Carreras built around TAG Heuer's newer movements. It took the established Calibre 16 Carrera and changed its materials, finish and colour enough to give the watch a much darker appearance.
