PRE-OWNED TAG HEUER MONACO CAW211P.FC6356

Pre-Owned TAG Heuer Monaco CAW211P.FC6356<br/>

Production Years:

TAG Heuer added the Monaco CAW211P.FC6356 model to its Monaco line up in the 2010s decade as a contemporary watch which was quite true to the original concept of 1969. Instead of going for an entirely new formula, TAG Heuer referred to certain elements which characterized the earlier Monaco model such as blue dial, contrasting counters and the key element - crown on the left side.

This reference continued in the TAG Heuer catalog until the early years of 2020s and is no longer in production. The combination of 39mm square case with Calibre 11 automatic movement makes it one of the Monaco models that have most resemblance to the original watch from this line up.

Defining Features

The form should be fairly self explanatory. The stainless steel case measuring 39mm contributes to the square form of the CAW211P.FC6356 watch through the combination of brushed and polished finishes, lending definition to its sides. As a watch, this piece is rather thick with a measurement of 15mm and despite the size, it appears quite imposing on the wrist.

Its opaline blue dial features two contrasting counters, the horizontal hour indicators and a red chronograph counter at the center. The 30 minute chronograph indicator is located at 9 o'clock while the running seconds are shown at 3 o'clock. The date window appears at 6 o'clock making the two counters perfectly balanced on the dial.

The most distinctive feature of Calibre 11 Monaco watches is the position of the crown which is found on the left hand side of the watch. The two chronograph pushers are located at the right hand side of the watch. This unique feature has been borrowed from the original automatic Monaco and is absent in Calibre 12 watches like the CAW2111.

TAG Heuer fitted this reference with a black perforated calfskin leather strap, finished with a polished steel folding clasp. The strap's textured finish was inspired by the surface of a racetrack, adding a subtle motorsport detail without altering the familiar blue Monaco appearance. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres.

About TAG Heuer Monaco Model Number CAW211P.FC6356

CAW211P.FC6356 has to be understood within the context of the earlier Monaco. Monaco was introduced to the market back in 1969 as a chronograph that came up with something unexpected. First of all, it had a square waterproof case and automatic movement, which made it somewhat different from other chronographs. Additionally, the importance of the watch was increased as Steve McQueen was wearing it in his movie Le Mans. It is worth saying that even today TAG Heuer emphasizes the importance of the association between the watch and the actor.

Apart from being coloured blue, the newer reference incorporates several characteristics of the older Monaco. For instance, there are silver toned counters that look against the blue face. Also, the watch has a red chronograph hand adding some colour and making the watch unique. Finally, left side crown distinguishes this watch from other models.

Calibre 11 automatic movement can be found inside the watch. This movement works at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides about 40 hours of power reserve. It works with hours, minutes, running seconds, date and chronograph, including 1/4 second chronograph indicator and 30 minute counter.

This is where the CAW211P.FC6356 differs meaningfully from some other modern Monaco references. A CAW2111 may look similar at first glance, but its Calibre 12 layout places the crown on the right. The CAW211P deliberately returns the crown to the left, making the mechanical layout itself part of the connection between the modern watch and Monaco's earlier history.
