The TAG Heuer Monaco CAW2114.FT6021 is part of the Calibre 12 series of Monaco from the 2010s decade. The Monaco CAW2114.FT6021 features the iconic square case of the series in a different color scheme, using a combination of black face, black rubber bracelet, and steel case. While the history of the Monaco watch goes back to 1969, the CAW2114.FT6021 was manufactured as a modern remake of the watch instead of being its exact copy. The 39mm case and Calibre 12 automatic movement define this watch as belonging to a later era of Monaco history.
Defining Features
The square 39mm stainless steel case is responsible for the distinctiveness of the CAW2114.FT6021. The polished and brushed finishes create the case edges, while the short lugs enable the black rubber strap to hug the wrist. As opposed to other references that come with a leather strap, this watch is given a sportier look because of the rubber one.
The black dial follows the dark theme. The two contrasting square chronograph sub-dials are located at 3 and 9 o'clock positions, thus preserving the balanced twin dial look of this watch series. Running seconds can be seen at 3 o'clock position, whereas the 30 minute chronograph dial can be found on the opposite side of the watch. The date is placed at 6 o'clock position.

FT6021 is an important component of the reference for the same reason, as it denotes the black rubber strap version. This is not just another black leather strap Monaco which was eventually outfitted with a rubber strap. The strap forms an essential part of the identity of this specific reference, matching seamlessly with its black dial and modernistic look.
Monaco first came out in 1969, when Heuer released a square automatic chronograph that was very different from the circular racing watches of the time. The connection of Monaco with Steve McQueen and the movie Le Mans has made it famous within the world of motor racing; however, CAW2114.FT6021 is a reworking of that iconic design without using the classic blue Monaco design.
