Top 3 Watches at SIHH 2018

The 28th edition of Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) came to a close, with the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH), the event’s organising body, declaring it as a “successful five days”. In this week’s blog post, we will be showcasing our three favourite timepieces to be unveiled at 2018’s first luxury watch exhibition.

Baume & Mercier Clifton Baumatic

The instantly impressive aspect of the new Baume & Mercier Clifton Baumatic is the relatively low price point that the watchmaker has placed the watch at, all while paying attention to consumer expectations and adhering to their requests.

For under £2,000, the Swiss watchmaker has ensured that those who purchase the Clifton Baumatic will receive an exclusive automatic movement with an impressive power reserve of 5 days, magnetic-resistant components, and a classic, vintage design that is matched by the quality of the case. The Baume & Mercier Clifton Baumatic will retail for around £1,950 in the United Kingdom.

IWC Portugieser 150th Anniversary Limited Edition White Dial

Swiss luxury watchmaker IWC is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, and the brand has taken the opportunity to release a number of limited edition watches to mark the occasion. The new IWC Portugieser Limited Edition White Dial unveiled at SIHH 2018 is one of these watches, and the timepiece boasts a timeless aesthetic that ensures it can be worn in a variety of settings and situations.

Presented in a comfortable and extremely wearable 42-mm case, the white dial is extremely legible thanks to the contrasting dark hour markers and rich blue hands. The new IWC Portugieser 150th Anniversary Limited Edition White Dial will be available for around £5,100.

Cartier Santos

French watchmaker Cartier is one of the few brands that are renowned around the world for producing desirable square watches for men, and the most noticeable example of this is undoubtedly the iconic Santos collection. Despite being around a century old, the design of the Cartier Santos remains inspired to this very day, and the watchmaker shook things up a bit when the latest edition was unveiled at SIHH 2018.

The new Cartier Santos was presented with a thinner case profile, a new bracelet attachment system and it is now powered by an in-house manufactured automatic movement. Furthermore, Cartier ensured that a variety of budgets and tastes were accounted for, with the Santos available in two sizes and various metal options. Prices for the new Cartier Santos will range between £4,900 and £31,000.
