Top 3 ladies watches at Baselworld

It is very likely that future generations will look upon the current era of luxury watch design as a time of resounding creativity in ladies’ watches. Just as the 1960s and early 70s are remembered fondly for the inception of several iconic men’s collections, including the Rolex Daytona and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, we are currently in the midst of a period of technical and creative energy for ladies’ watches. As such, we will be showcasing our three favourite ladies’ watches introduced at Baselworld 2018 in this week’s blog.

Rolex Datejust 31 Everose Gold

While Rolex presented a number of new additions to their Datejust 31 collection at Baselworld, our particular favourite is this model, which is presented in an Everose gold case and with 262 evenly set pavé diamonds. The dial features a tasteful butterfly motif that has been constructed from mother-of-pearl, and along with the diamonds, this helps to create a delicate contrast to the Everose gold on the case, a material that was manufactured entirely in-house at the Rolex foundry.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Jewellery

The impressive dial of the new Omega Aqua Terra features silvery guilloche waves interspersed with waves in 18K rose gold, some of which have been paved with diamonds. The marquise ruby hour markers are presented with an eye-catching matching leather strap, and the watch is powered by Omega’s Calibre 8807, which meets the brand’s stringent Master Chronometer specifications.

Breitling Navitimer 1 Automatic 38

Georges Kern took over as Breitling CEO in July 2017, and the new Navitimer 1 Automatic 38 is the first ladies’ watch to be produced by the watchmaker under his stewardship. While the new, smaller Navitimer does not retain the collection’s chronograph functionality, the familiar bi-directional slide rule bezel is still present. However, the absence of the chronograph does have its positives, as the petite dial is refreshingly refined with only three hands present, which also harks back to the three-hand Navitimer of the 1950s.
