Rolex Arabic Dials: A Blend of Tradition and Functionality
Rolex Arabic dials stand out as a symbol of timeless sophistication and practicality, rooted in history and embracing cultural diversity.
Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega celebrated its role as Official Timekeeper of the Olympics with a new vintage-inspired, limited-edition Seamaster collection. The 2018 edition of the Olympic Winter Games started on Friday 9th February in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and it came as no real surprise to the see the event’s Official Timekeeper produced limited-edition timepieces.
However, that’s not to say that Omega hasn’t surprised a few people with the new Seamaster Olympic Games collection, which not only introduced five new colours to the range but also celebrated the brand’s 86-year history as Official Timekeeper to the games as opposed to the 2018 games specifically.
While displaying a stopwatch-inspired design, the new Seamaster only display a minimal amount of Olympic-specific branding, which suggested that Omega is trying to not limit their market to those who are either interested in or actually participating in the Olympics.
The new collection continued the subtle designs that we have seen in Omega’s previous Olympic-themed watches, and each of the 5 new references of the Omega Seamaster Olympic Games collection is accented in one of the Olympic ring colours: blue, yellow, black, green, or red.
The watches were presented in a fairly simple 39.5mm steel case, allowing the dial to be the centrepiece of the new Seamaster. The dial featured bold printed Arabic numerals, a date display and a colour-coordinated pulse scale around the edge, all of which result in a balanced, tasteful display that didn’t look cluttered despite a variety of functions being displayed.
A further nod to the Olympic heritage of the watches was found under the date display at 6 o’clock, with the Olympic rings appearing in the same colour that accentuates each reference.
While the new Omega Seamaster offered sports fans an opportunity to directly connect with the upcoming games in Pyeongchang, they also acted independently as an aesthetically pleasing and legible limited-edition luxury watch. The watch also offers another entry point for the brand’s in-house Co-Axial Master Chronometer movement, which has been stringently tested to ensure flawless timekeeping and accuracy. These movements are magnetic resistant up to 15,000 gauss and have an impressive 55 hours of power reserve.
The new Omega Seamaster Olympic Games collection is finished with a perforated leather strap with coloured accents to match the dial, and the 10,160 limited-edition pieces spread equally throughout the five colourways will cost around £4,000 in the United Kingdom.
