Omega Speedmaster Moonphase Chronograph

Rolex Cellini Moonphase

Rolex Cellini Moonphase

Swiss watchmaker Rolex stole the headlines at Baselworld earlier in the year with its brash new Yacht-Master, but the Cellini Moonphase also generated talking points between fans of the brand.

The Cellini marked a triumphant return of the Rolex moonphase complication after a decade’s long absence, and its appearance took some luxury watch aficionados by surprise.

Thanks to the new, and currently unique for Rolex, moonphase complication, the Cellini timepiece range could finally distinguish itself from any of the brand’s other modern collections.

The face of the watch is presented in an elegant lacquered white, and it serves as a pristine backdrop to highlight the other elements and decorations on the dial.

Found within a framed aperture at 6 o’clock, the charming moonphase complication demands the wearer’s attention and, in an unusual step, is presented on a blue enamel disc. The Cellini has always been lauded for its simplicity and its refined functionality, and Rolex continued this tradition with the new moonphase.

Baselworld 2016 saw Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega introduce a new member to its acclaimed Speedmaster collection, and the Moonphase Chronograph impressed many at the exhibition.

As you would expect from Omega, the Speedmaster Moonphase Chronograph had the winning combination of breath-taking design and robust engineering, and they also succeeded in manufacturing an METAS certified Master Chronometer.

The METAS tests are more stringent than those carried out by COSC, and they are performed on the movements while they are actually housed inside the watch case, meaning that the movements will have to be more durable and accurate to pass these inspections.
